ConnRAD Project

The ConnRAD project develops system architectures as well as communication protocols and mechanisms to enhance the reliability and resilience of safety-critical driving functions in connected mobility (C-ITS, CCAM).
A key focus is on the assessment of the reliability of information for safety-critical applications. ConnRAD establishes the basis for future regulation and standardization, enabling approval and scalable deployment of resilient mobility systems.
To this end, common protocols and interfaces are defined and integrated into a reference architecture. This provides manufacturers and certification bodies with a robust foundation for developing and validating future systems. The concepts are tested in exemplary use cases using technology demonstrators.
Fraunhofer FOKUS implements the required protocols and measures in demonstrators, applied both in vehicles and – where relevant – in infrastructure as well as edge and cloud systems.
The consortium includes Fraunhofer FOKUS and eight partners from industry and research, including Bosch, the Daimler Center for Automotive IT Innovations, Infineon, TU Munich, and others.
